Dan Mirk, Meghan O’Neill and Sascha Stanton Craven head up Comedy Workshop for the Film Intensive.

During a near-miraculous 3-day turnaround, the unique comedic voices of Dan Mirk (senior writer, The Onion),  Sascha Stanton-Craven (media editor and contributing writer, The Onion; head writer, Queen City Radio Hour) and Meghan O'Neill (The Guthrie Theater, Magnet Theater, Story Pirates) managed to make our Film Intensive students just a little bit funnier.  Dan, Sascha and Meghan lead a group of 16 students through a number of writing workshops and rehearsals, all leading up to a Sunday afternoon performance that we called the Chain Gang Radio Comedy Hour.  Students wrote comedy sketches based on premises written peers at the start of the workshop and we later performed the sketches.  Among the bits: a hipster fashion show, Shakespearian debauchery, a Buddhist hit-man, and the best of Vermont advertising (just to name a few).

On Saturday night, February 4th, Marlboro College also hosted Fraidy Cat, a one-woman comedy performance by Meghan O’Neill (Upright Citizen’s Brigade).  Megan’s one-woman show (temporarily usurped by the equally hilarious (well, maybe) Dan Mirk and Sascha Stanton - Craven) was a tour de force of funny.

Dan & Sascha gearing us up.
